Why is this puja performed?
People book Rudrabhishek to worship Shiva and pray for their family’s peace and well-being. The pandit recites Rudra mantras while water and panchamrit are offered over the Shivling. You can arrange it on a Monday, during Shravan, on Shivratri or on another date that suits your family.
A Rudrabhishek includes mantra recitation as well as the abhishek. Before booking, check the number of Rudra recitations and whether a havan is included.

How the puja is performed
The steps below explain what usually happens. Before you book, the pandit will confirm the readings, their number and any differences at your temple.
Sankalp and Ganesh puja
The pandit asks your names and the reason for the puja. You take the sankalp, then begin with Ganesh puja.
Kalash and Shiva preparation
The pandit prepares the kalash and Shivling. He completes the opening mantras, nyasa and dhyan followed in his tradition.
Rudra recitation
The pandit or pandit team recites the Rudra mantras. The number of repetitions, and any Chamakam reading, will be stated in your booking details.
Jal and panchamrit abhishek
Water and panchamrit are poured over the Shivling, followed by water again. The pujari will tell you whether you can pour the offerings yourself at that venue.
Bilva and Shiva archana
Bilva leaves, flowers and sandal are offered to Shiva. You join the names and make the prayer for which you have arranged the puja.
Naivedya, aarti and conclusion
The pandit offers bhog and leads the aarti. A havan follows only if it is included in the puja you have booked.
What you and your family do
You join the sankalp and aarti, and make the offerings allowed at that place. Ask separately about any Mahakaleshwar entry permission you need.

Where will it take place?
You can ask us to arrange this puja at Shri Mahakaleshwar. The temple committee decides the pujan locations and entry rules. A private puja does not include Bhasma Aarti or garbhagriha entry unless separately confirmed.
