Vishnu Sahasranama Path
विष्णु सहस्रनाम पाठA complete reading of Vishnu Sahasranama with puja and aarti.
Why is this puja performed?
Vishnu Sahasranama Path is a reading of Vishnu’s thousand names. Families book it for peace and well-being, on Ekadashi or a birthday, or because it is part of their regular worship. You can listen to the pandit or read along with him.
This is the complete Sahasranama, rather than a short archana. Tell us if you would like more than one complete reading.
When families arrange it
- Ekadashi or a regular family observance
- A prayer for peace and well-being
- A personal vow or thanksgiving
How the puja is performed
The steps below explain what usually happens. Before you book, the pandit will confirm the readings, their number and any differences at your temple.
Sankalp for the recitation
The pandit takes the names of the people for whom you are offering the path. You agree how many complete readings will be done.
Ganesh and Vishnu pujan
After remembering Ganesh, you offer puja to Vishnu. The worship takes place before an image, Shaligram or at the temple, depending on your booking.
Opening prayers and dhyan
The pandit reads the opening prayers and dhyan before beginning the thousand names. You can sit quietly and listen or follow the text.
Complete Sahasranama recitation
The pandit reads the thousand names in order. If you want to read along, let us know beforehand so we can discuss a suitable booklet.
Concluding verses and archana
After the main text, the pandit reads the closing verses. You offer tulsi and flowers and make your family’s prayer.
Naivedya, aarti and prasad
Bhog is offered and you join the aarti. The path finishes with a final prayer and prasad.
What you and your family do
You can listen to the whole path or read along. Let us know if you need a book in Devanagari or another script.
