Ganesh Archana
गणेश अर्चनाGanesh naam archana with durva, flowers and bhog.
Why is this puja performed?
Ganesh Archana is often arranged before a marriage, a new business or another important family occasion. You offer durva, flowers and bhog while the pandit recites Ganesh’s names, praying for a good beginning and the removal of obstacles.
This is a short puja. A Ganapati Havan takes longer and includes offerings into the sacred fire.
When families arrange it
- Before a marriage or new undertaking
- Ganesh Chaturthi or your family’s puja
- A visit to Chintaman Ganesh
How the puja is performed
The steps below explain what usually happens. Before you book, the pandit will confirm the readings, their number and any differences at your temple.
Sankalp for the occasion
Tell the pandit the occasion and the names to include. He helps you take the sankalp for the puja.
Ganesh dhyan
The pandit begins with Ganesh dhyan. At a temple, you are worshipping the deity already installed there, not installing a new idol.
Sandal, durva and flowers
You offer sandal, durva and flowers as the pandit guides you. At the shrine, the pujari handles the offerings that must be made by him.
Ganesh naam archana
The pandit recites Ganesh’s names or the stotra booked for your puja. You can repeat the names after him.
Modak or other naivedya
Modak or the sweet chosen for the puja is offered as bhog. You make your prayer for the occasion named in the sankalp.
Aarti and prasad
You join Ganesh aarti and offer namaskar. Prasad is then shared with the family.
What you and your family do
You join the sankalp and aarti and repeat the names when the pandit asks. Tell him if you want to offer a marriage invitation.

Let us know how many people are coming and if anyone needs a chair or help reaching the puja. We will send the material list, time and meeting point when your booking is confirmed.
Where will it take place?
You can ask us to arrange this puja at Chintaman Ganesh. A short archana can be discussed with the temple priest. A full Ganapati Havan needs a separate, suitable place.
